This week French trio The Getdown debut their self-titled album featuring dynamic blend of Hammond organ, piano, and drums - all born from a spontaneous performance at the 2023 Académie du Jazz awards. Laura Jurd’s Rites & Revelations draws deeply from English and Scottish folk roots, weaving renaissance melodies and personal introspection into a collection of primarily original compositions. Jason Palmer pays tribute to Wayne Shorter with Shorter Songs, an intimate and inventive duo album alongside pianist Kevin Harris, and Swedish duo Irma Neumüller & Seth Sjöström explore jazz standards, originals, and folk-infused favourites in Come Give Me Love. Finally, Danish vibraphonist Viktoria Søndergaard makes her debut, merging jazz, folk, rap, and spoken word in her latest album Music of Secrets.
