The latest jazz releases for this week include the latest album by Christian McBride's New Jawn quartet, drummer Kendrick Scott's trio with Walter Smith III and Ruben Rogers, the 21st studio album by drummer/tablaist Trilok Gurtu, and Phil Woods' homage to Charlie Parker with Strings.
Acclaimed bass player Christian McBride's 'New Jawn' band, featuring trumpeter Josh Evans, saxophonist/bass clarinetist Marcus Strickland, and drummer Nasheet Waits, return for their sophomore release Prime, with a mix of originals by each band member and tunes by Sonny Rollins and Ornette Coleman.
