Yanagisawa saxophones are made by a small family company in Japan that only makes professional quality instruments, recognised as some of the finest in the world. The company's dedication to exceptional quality and precision is evident in every instrument they make. Popular with technicians, these instruments play straight out of the box and are incredibly reliable.
This AWO2 model is the upgraded replacement for the legendary A902 series, which offered a rich, broad and harmonically complex tone. The AWO2 offers this and more! With this professional level model, the player can be assured of both a superior tone and class-leading playing experience.
The body is made from bronze (a mix of copper and tin) which offers a softer, warmer and broader tone in contrast to the more direct and punchy sound of the TWO1 which is made from brass (copper and zinc)
The new AWO2 model has some major modifications in comparison to the A902, yet still retains the classic Yanagisawa sound and feel that has made them so popular:
- The bore size and tone hole size and positioning has all been modified. This is essential to the instrument's reponse, tone and resonance.
- Yanagisawa are using a different source of brass. The mix and quality of copper, zinc and tin can affect the resonance, and much testing was done to ensure the best tonal quality from this new source of core brass.
- The right hand 'pinky' keys have been modified in shape to facilitate faster finger movement at the bottom of the instrument.
- The front F key has been re-designed to sit more easily under the player's finger.
- Additional 'feet' have been added under the right hand side keys to give the mechanism more support.
- The new AW range benefits from a new strengthening plate on the front of the crook, designed to add more weight around the neck area which can result in the player feeling more strength in the sound.
- A new plate has been added to the left hand palm key area to add some extra resonance, especially on those notes as it adds core weight to the corresponding part of the tube.
The AWO2 is hand-engraved, upholding Yanagisawa's motto for an instrument manufacturing process that 'starts in the hands, passes through machines and ends back in the hands'
*Please note: this is an ex display instrument and has some minor surface scratches to the bottom bow*
