The YTS-62 series has been around for over 20 years and has been a best-selling professional tenor saxophone during this time. One step below Yamaha's Custom models, the 62 represents great value for money as it shares many of the characteristics of the top designs, yet is made available at a much lower price point. For those students looking to upgrade to a higher level model, the YTS-62 should be a serious consideration!
This up-graded model has some new features including a new 62-style neck which has a narrower bore than the previous model. The idea behind this is that the new neck gives a slightly faster and more controlled response and is easier to keep in tune.
The low B/C# connection arm is now longer and has a flatter landing touchpiece to improve the stability of adjustment on the low C#/B. This is small change that most players may not notice, but can be of use to a repair technician setting up the sax or performing routine maintenance. The 62 series also benefits from integrated key posts which adds stability to the instrument and the extra weight also adds some more solidity to the sound.
This new tenor also has some beautiful new engraving and is, overall, a highly recommended instrument within its price range.
