Consolation is Alexander Vounelakoss debut album and consists exclusively of his own compositions for solo piano. The works are primarily classified as 21st-century contemporary European jazz. They combine elements of modern jazz harmony with influences from classical music-particularly late Romanticism and Expressionism-as well as rhythmic and melodic impulses from flamenco. This fusion gives rise to a unique musical language that brings tradition and the present into dialogue with one another in a personal way.
