About

Reverie features pianist Harry Baker and trumpeter Tom Syson in an intimate programme that moves naturally between jazz, classical, and original composition. Conceived around a shared search for lyrical, reflective music, the EP explores a sound world shaped by artists as diverse as Maurice Ravel, John Scofield, Pat Metheny and Cyrille Aimée.

Alongside Baker's Verdant and Syson's October, the programme sees fresh reimaginings of music by Aimée, Scofield and Ravel, including a live performance of the Mouvement de menuet from Ravel's Sonatine. Cellist and vocalist Hadewych van Gent joins the duo on Feel What I Feel, bringing new colour to an EP that blends original compositions, imaginative arrangements and improvisation.

Equally at home on the jazz stage and the classical concert platform, Baker has collaborated with artists including Jamie Cullum, Fatma Said and Sheku Kanneh-Mason, while Syson has appeared with the BBC Big Band, Ronnie Scott's Jazz Orchestra and at venues ranging from the Barbican to the BBC Proms. Together, they explore the meeting point of jazz and classical traditions through original compositions, arrangements and improvisation.
