At its centre, Fernande Decruck’s Sonata in Csharp is heard in dialogue with music by Ravel, Piazzolla, Gershwin, Erroll Garner and McCoy Tyner, while works by Álvaro Carrillo and João Donato highlight a strong Central and South American thread. Short interludes - improvised, transitional fragments - link the programme, guiding it towards an increasingly open and uninhibited close. Taken as a whole, ‘Mosaic’ is a curated selection of works which reflects the many strands of Salvador Flores’s musical life - his background, influences and collaborations - assembled into a single artistic statement.
