The orchestral and choral writing makes an immediate impression - it is powerful, lyrical, at times cinematographic. It is in the tradition of British choral compositions over the last 100 years. The libretto is Stephen Feltham. Awakening is a modern classic, an accessible and striking addition to the British choral repertoire.
