About
In Parallel brings together three composers writing at the turn of the 20th century whose voices, from very different backgrounds, share a deeply expressive Romantic language: Rachmaninov, Amy Beach, and Alma Mahler. British-Persian cellist Ariana Kashefi, renowned for her lyrical playing and expressive musicianship, and award-winning Russian-born British pianist Petr Limonov, winner of the Nikolai Rubinstein Piano Competition and a pupil of Maria João Pires and Dmitri Alexeev, present a programme shaped by more than a decade of collaboration and refined through live performance.

July 2026
Anguish sears the burnished melodies [of Alma Mahler's 'Die stille Stadt']; intoxicating and intense, Kashefi and Petr Limonov delivering the perfect range of emotions from the charged passion to the ebbing away to nothing at the end. At just under four minutes, this cameo nevertheless is one of the most powerful pieces on the album.

This is her debut recital album, and to give you an idea of how good it is, I received it on a Friday, gave it a first test spin the following evening, and by the end of the weekend had listened a further three times purely for pleasure.
