About

This album traces how composers have drawn on dance forms to forge new directions — ranging from courtly and folk traditions to the waltz. Inspired by the delightful encounter between Ravel and Grieg in 1894, it explores Grieg’s rarely documented influence not only on Ravel, but also on Pejačević and Chaminade.

Ivana Gavrić is a British pianist who has attracted international acclaim for her interpretations of a broad swathe of repertoire. She has performed with many leading orchestras and recorded several albums.

Awards and reviews

May 2026

It flows from court and folk dances to the waltz, with Gavrić's playing poised throughout.

January 2026

Gavrić brings a natural warmth to Ravel's Le tombeau de Couperin that is often missing from the diamond-hard surfaces of many interpretations. Whether in the gently searching Fugue, the diffident Menuet or the sparkling repeated notes of the Toccata, Gavrić speaks Ravel's language as though it were her mother tongue.
