With each composer bringing a unique perspective and distinct voice to the album, Milestones focuses on life’s pivotal moments such as Wallen’s second movement of the concerto inspired by a Yiddish Lullaby sung to young Philippe by his grandfather and Auerbach’s multilayered violin concerto reflecting the distortion of memory by future experience.
