Janus Classics presents its first recording project with percussionist Naizhi Zhang, exploring the full range of colours of marimba, a relatively young and rare instrument in the classical music world. Recorded in a newly built cathedral, the album includes marimba transcriptions of Johann Sebastian Bach's two suites originally to be played on lute-harpsichord (BWV 996 and 997) across his composing career, John Cage's minimalist and Zen-influenced In a Landscape for piano or harp, and H. I. F. Biber's mysterious Passacaglia for violin, the finale of his Rosary Sonatas.
