For this third and marvelous last volume of the complete sonatas for violin and piano by Ludwig van Beethoven, Andrew Wan and Charles Richard-Hamelin present the Sonata No. 4 in A Minor, Op. 23, the famous Sonata No. 9 in A Major, Op. 47 (“Kreutzer”), and the Sonata No. 10 in G Major, Op. 96, characterized by its refined instrumental textures, subtle nuances, and intimate mood. The first volume of this collection was named one of the best classical albums of 2018 by Radio-Canada.

[Kreutzer] From the very beginning the grand nobility of the opening gestures for each instrument are gorgeously captured by both players, and one therefore knows immediately that this will be a fine performance. So it proves to be, with the quirky rhythmic nature of the opening movement wonderfully caught. Both players, rightly, sound as if they are having great fun.
