This new recording contains some rarely heard repertoire from a rarely heard composer: Charles Valentin Alkan, one of the greatest ianists in history (even Liszt was afraid to play in his presence), recluse, genius composer of mainly piano works of extraordinary virtuosity and originality.

Presented are the 3 Concerti da Camera, for piano and strings, written in the style of Hummel and Chopin, and the world premiere of the complete “6 Piano Pieces” Op. 16, which includes the 3 Études de Bravoure, and three fantasies/variations on popular opera arias.

Giovanni Bellucci is one of the most interesting and extraordinary pianists of today. Described by Piero Rattalino as “a force of nature, vast and palpitating”, his playing is highly original, striving to recreate the original impact of the works he is playing: “he takes us back to the Golden Age of the Piano” wrote Le Monde.
