Awards and reviews

December 2017

On both instruments, he etches Bach’s lines with a delicate precision; rhythms are buoyant, phrases articulate. Violinist Rie Kimura’s playing is supple and stylish, though the sound (slightly favoured in the recorded balance) is a little edgy in the upper reaches.

2nd July 2017

This impressively comprehensive study...maps his progress as an individual voice...This fascinating development is intelligently and elegantly conveyed by the distinguished Amsterdam-based players Rie Kimura, violin, and Pieter-Jan Belder, keyboards. Recommended.

Classical Ear July 2017

Much of this music is deeply expressive: witness the Arioso with variations in A or the Adagio from the C minor Sonata, where Belder’s elegant harpsichord is answers by Kimura’s intimately mellow violin line, a sound which has an almost ghostly aura about it.
