About
German composer, violist, violinist, and conductor Paul Hindemith is one of the most significant German composers of his time. His compositions are styled in a late romantic idiom, with some of his later works being expressionist and in the style of Schoenberg. + This album is the result of the collaboration between conductor Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and pianist Sviatoslav Richter. “Richter’s final plan, which he announced on a visit to Berg shortly before his death and which I immediately tried to implement, was to arrange a festival entirely dedicated to Hindemith, a festival in which I was to conduct four works for chamber orchestra and he was to play the obbligato piano part throughout.” (Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau) + Florian Henschel is the featured pianist in these recordings.
