Diego Tosi’s primary motivation for this recording was to lay his hands on scores that were unpublished or, at least, have never been recorded. From this resulted long work, spread out over several years, with a certain gestation proving to be indispensable before the final performance of the pieces on this disc. Hopefully "Phonic Design" will constitute a good work tool or source of inspiration for upcoming generations of violinists putting together their programmes and looking to go beyond Bach’s Sonatas and Partitas, the Paganini Caprices or Ysaÿe’s two Sonatas.
