About

In 1637, the soldier mercenary Captain Tobias Hume went on a mission to India where he met a sarangi player. Hume introduced himself in music: his work as a soldier, his travels, his passion for music, his mischievous, duplicitous love affairs... The sarangi player answered him before they combined their sounds. Drhuba Gosh and Philippe Pierlot invite you to go through this imaginary travel again.

CD Review 8th August 2015

the encounter between different traditions bears curiously delicious fruit, and even if you remain to be persuaded by this trans-continental fantasy, Pierlot’s performances of Tobias Hume’s viol pieces in the first half of the recital should be enough of a draw.

Early Music Review 2nd August 2015

Highly recommended – a tour de force of imaginative insight.
