In Sciarrino's most recent productions the voice comes to fill a pre-eminent and diversified position. This is so in 'Cantiere del poema' [2011] on texts by Sciarrino himself, 'Petrarch' [a brief verse form the seventh sonnet of the Canzoniere] and 'Foscolo' [a fragment extracted and recomposed from the incomplete poem 'Le Grazie']. The ensemble occasionally recalls that of the 'Trois poems de Mallarmé' by Ravel with the addition of a double bass and the extension towards the bass of flutes and clarinets. 'L'altro giardino' develops a work from shortly before, 'Il giardino di Sara' [2009]. Although the vocal line survives intact the ensemble has broadened and an introduction has been added.
