After winning the first prize at the prestigious Henryk Wieniawski Competition 2011 in Poznań, Poland, Soyoung Yoon is widely recognized as one of the greatest violinists of her generation. Much sought after as a soloist, Soyoung has toured with numerous high quality orchestras, including the Moscow Virtuosi Orchestra, London Mozart Players and the Trondheim Soloists. Her first release on the DUX label of two of the most dynamic violin works ever written, is nothing short of spectacular. Soyoung performs on the Stradivari ‘King George’, 1710 and Guadanini ‘ex-Bueckeburg’ 1773.

Soyoung Yoon gives meticulous, highly disciplined performances of both these concertos. It's lovely violin-playing, stressing clarity and beauty of tone. However, particularly in the Sibelius, I felt there was something missing - an element of darkness and wildness, perhaps...The Tchaikovsky has many fine moments - the livelier parts of the first movement and the finale are especially successful.
