Following hard on the heels of the successful string quartets comes the world premiere recording of symphonies nos. 1 & 2 by the Finnish contemporary composer Seppo Pohjola. The works are performed by the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Sakari Oramo. The booklet notes are compiled by Finnish composer Jouni Kaipainen who on hearing the 2nd symphony made the following assessment – “Pohjola extracts some irrefutably effective timbres from his orchestra and the sound is both delicate and showy.”
