About

The quartets Wq 93-95, included here were written in 1788, the year of C P E Bach’s death and show that he was moving toward the classical style. The contrasting themes and independent treatment of all the parts point the way to Beethoven’s piano trios. The performers have decided that the composer implied the use of a cello without mentioning it.
