Perhaps an extract from an imaginary letter in the CD booklet will give an insight into this thoughtful composition – “I pay homage to you on your 200th anniversary. I have played your pieces since childhood. Your Mazurkas are closest to my heart. I composed nine paraphrases based on your Mazurkas and I hope you would like them and that they would not offend you, yours sincerely, Michał Sobkowiak.”
