Romance has always been in fashion, and composers have never tired of proclaiming its virtues. The top conductors and orchestras of the 1950s certainly knew how to touch the hearts and minds of music lovers, and many long playing albums were recorded featuring gorgeous arrangements and original compositions. With names such as Robert Farnon, Ron Goodwin, David Rose, Johnny Douglas, Philip Green, Percy Faith, Laurie Johnson, Stanley Black, Gordon Jenkins, Sidney Torch, Ray Martin, Frank Cordell and Frank Chacksfield weaving their own magic spells, the results just had to be magical.
