There are a great many extremely good performances of The Planets in the catalogues – and this *is* an extremely good one...The minor imperfections in balance - largely the result of the natural problems in Holst’s own scoring - in this Nimbus recording are not serious enough to prevent a strong endorsement for Boughton’s performance.
