Philippe Jordan, one of the rising stars of the symphonic and operatic stage, conducts the Orchestre de l’Opéra National de Paris in this live recording of Strauss’s magnificent, ‘An Alpine Symphony’ - his very first concert as Music Director of the orchestra.

Jordan, in his booklet note, stresses the special significance of performing the Alpine Symphony at this highly acclaimed concert and of the work being used for the Orchestra’s first major collaboration with Naïve. The powerful and spectacular ‘An Alpine Symphony’ is a vast symphonic poem lasting a little less than an hour and calling for gigantic orchestral forces (more than 120 musicians). The Orchestre de L’Opéra National de Paris is one of the most youthful and venerable orchestras in France today.
