CPO’s Weingarter series continues with Symphony No.6. The Sixth symphony, titled “La Tragica” was written in 1928, the hundredth anniversary of Schubert’s death. Weingartner used his symphony as a tribute to the composer.
The Tragic Symphony is coupled with the symphonic poem Frühling, and they are performed by the critically acclaimed Sinfonieorchester Basel and Marko Letonja who have featured on the rest of the volumes.
