About
Ferde Grofe (1892-1972) is best known as the arranger for the Paul Whiteman band and it was in this capacity that he became the man to orchestrate Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. He was, however, a composer of no mean accomplishment, with the Grand Canyon Suite being his best-known composition. On this album we have two more of Grofé's many orchestral suites depicting famous American geographical features.
