The 19 pieces collected together on this release are all world premiere recordings of harpsichord music by Heinrich Scheidemann (1595-1663). Born into a family of musicians and composers Schiedemann studied the organ under Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck and it is for his organ compositions that Schiedemann is justly famous.

Played here by the incomparable Pieter Dirksen these rarities are a delight and a must for all collectors of music of this period or genre.
