there is something commendable in the utterly serious and no-compromise approach Minter takes to these little-known works...Minter's voice has lost some of its youthful bloom and gained a little more vibrato since his celebrated Baroque discs. Yet so intensely vivid are his readings and so varied are his vocal characterizations, including use of his pleasant baritone, that this scarcely matters at all.
