Rumon Gamba is Music Director of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, a post he has held since September 2002.

Gamba studied at Durham University, and with Colin Metters, Sir Colin Davis and George Hurst at the Royal Academy of Music where he was the first conducting student to receive the DipRAM. As a result of winning the ‘Lloyds Bank BBC Young Musicians 1998 Conductors’ Workshop’ he was appointed Assistant Conductor of the BBC Philharmonic.
