Originally from Deer Lodge, Montana, he currently resides in Bozeman, Montana, where he taught music courses at Montana State University. He is also the Artistic Director and Host for Montana PBS's 11th & Grant with Eric Funk, an Emmy Award-winning show broadcast on Montana PBS featuring local musicians.
