Julie Fuchs (Soprano)

The French light-lyric soprano Julie Fuchs was born in Meaux in 1984 and trained at the Avignon Conservatory and the Conservatoire de Paris; she made her professional debut as Handel’s Galatea in Aix-en-Provence and spent her early career as an ensemble member at Zurich Opera, where her roles included Mozart’s Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro and Handel’s Morgana (Alcina). Fuchs signed with Deutsche Grammophon in 2014, and her debut album Yes! (a recital of French operetta arias) was released the following year; her discography also includes Leïla on the world premiere recording of the original 1863 version of Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles on Pentatone (‘delicious… with a pure, almost crystalline soprano, and deft passagework’ – Opera Now), Adèle in Rossini’s Le Comte Ory from Paris on Blu-ray and DVD, and her second solo album on Deutsche Grammophon, Mademoiselle.
