American mezzo Angela Brower was born in Arizona, where she trained at the Herberger Institute before studying at Indiana University and on the young artists programme at Glimmerglass Opera. In 2009 he began a long association with the Bavarian State Opera, where her roles have included Octavian, Cherubino, Charlotte, Dorabella, Hänsel, Sesto and Annio in La clemenza di Tito, Wellgunde, Rosina, and Strauss’s Komponist. Her discography includes Cherubino and Dorabella on Yannick Nézet-Séguin’s Mozart opera series on Deutsche Grammophon, Dorabella in Jan Philipp Gloger’s Cosí from Covent Garden on DVD and Blu-ray, and Bernstein songs with pianist Katie Mahan, released to mark the composer’s centenary in 2018.
