Jean Rondeau

Born: 23rd April 1991, Paris, France

Nationality: French

Born in France in 1991, Jean Rondeau began playing the harpsichord at the age of six and studied in Paris and London with Blandine Verlet, James Johnstone and Carole Cerasi; early competition successes included prizes at the Prague Spring International Harpsichord Competition and the Musica Antiqua Festival Bruges in 2012, and the Prix de Radio Francophones Publiques in 2014. Rondeau signed to Erato in 2014; his first album, Imagine, was released early the next year (‘Make no mistake – this is an auspicious debut’ – BBC Music Magazine), and was followed by Vertigo (a collection of Rameau and Royer, which prompted Gramophone to declare that ‘there is no doubt that he is a player of immense ability from whom we reasonably may hope for much’) and Dynastie (an anthology of concerti by the Bach family).
