Thomas Dunford

Lute

Thomas Dunford was born in Paris in 1988 and began playing the lute aged 9; he studied at the Conservatoire de Paris and Schola Cantorum Basel, where his teachers included Hopkinson Smith. Dunford’s debut solo album Lachrymae was released on Alpha in 2013 and was praised by BBC Music Magazine for his ‘supple technique and improvisatory abandon’; his discography also includes The Art of Melancholy – Songs by John Dowland with Iestyn Davies on Hyperion, Kapsberger – Labirinto d’amore on Alpha, and Flow my tears (again with Davies) on Wigmore Hall Live.
