Born in London in 1959 and educated at the Purcell School and the Royal College of Music, Julius Drake is widely recognised as one of the foremost song-pianists in the world today; he records and performs regularly with singers including Ian Bostridge, Alice Coote, Gerald Finley and Joyce DiDonato and with the oboist Nicholas Daniel, and curates programmes for venues including Wigmore Hall, Middle Temple Hall and the Concertgebouw.

With almost a hundred recordings to his name, Drake’s discography includes an ongoing Liszt songs series on Hyperion (with singers such as Angelika Kirchschlager, Allan Clayton and Matthew Polenzani), award-winning discs of Ravel, Schumann, Ives, Barber and Britten with Gerald Finley, and a innovative film of Schubert’s Winterreise with Ian Bostridge and director David Alden. (He has also recorded the cycle with both Coote and Finley).
