Recollections, Introducing our Recollections project

A woman visualising music and photographsAs you will hopefully have gathered by now, Presto Music is a company run by music-lovers, for music-lovers. We all have deep-seated memories of key moments when music transformed us - whether it was that first classical concert we attended, the first LP we picked out and bought for ourselves, the cassette in the car that was playing when we fell head-over-heels in love, or songs that remind us of those no longer with us.

Presto Music sends music all around the globe, and we sometimes wonder about all the unique contexts in which that music will be listened to (or, in the case of sheet music and instruments, performed). The joy of working with our customers is knowing that you really do listen, in painstaking detail.

So this is a call-out for your own personal stories: if you have an interesting tale behind a much-loved recording (ideally one that's still available!), we would love you to share it with us in between 300-500 words. Stories that are selected will receive a £30 voucher.

If you have any photos that you would care to share, please do. These could be old family snapshots, or photos of your first record-player or cassette-deck. And using your name is optional - just be sure to state your preference in your email. Please send your submissions to letters@prestomusic.com

Here are some very loose suggestions to get you started:

  • The first recording of classical music or jazz that truly moved you
  • Recordings played by your parents that had an impact on you
  • The recording which introduced you to a composer you became passionate about
  • A recording that reminds you of a loved one
  • Journey music: albums enjoyed on the road
  • A recording that helped you through a break-up

We look forward to hearing about your musical memories!
