Rachmaninov: The Isle of the Dead & Symphonic Dances
London Philharmonic Orchestra, Vladimir Jurowski
Vladimir Jurowski is probably the most exciting of the younger generation of conductors. Russian repertoire, for Jurowski, is particularly close to his heart and here he delivers fantastic interpretations of these cornerstone orchestral works.

Buxtehude: Seven Sonatas, Op. 1 BuxWV 252-258
Sophie Gent (violin), Jonathan Manson (cello) & Thomas Dunford (lute), Arcangelo, Jonathan Cohen
Although Dietrich Buxtehude is famous above all for his organ music, his chamber music is virtually unknown. In the mid-1690s, Buxtehude published two collections of sonatas for violin, viola da gamba and basso continuo. It is the works of the first collection (1694) – designated Opus 1 in the print – that Arcangelo has recorded here.
