About the Author: For over two decades Julian Joseph has been a towering figure in contemporary jazz. A prodigious composer, a phenomenal pianist, a respected bandleader, an inspirational educator and a highly-engaging broadcaster, he is a true champion of the music. Julian was the first jazz musician to be invited to give a series of all-acoustic concerts at London’s most prestigious classical venue, the Wigmore Hall. Off the concert platform, Julian is in constant demand as a broadcaster and presenter. His weekly BBC Radio 3 show Jazz Legends ran from 2000 to 2007, when he then joined the Jazz Line-Up team. Julian has also made two series for Meridian TV and Sky TV’s Artsworld channel. Julian also plays an important role in jazz education. He was central to the launch of a jazz syllabus for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. In January 2013 he opened his own Jazz Academy, which has since developed some of the finest young musicians in the country, with many going on to study at the world’s best universities and music colleges.
