Fusion
Jazz fusion (or simply 'Fusion') is a genre that developed in the second half of the 1960s, combining improvisation and jazz harmony with innovations from rock, funk, world, and blues music. The style is notable for its inclusion of amplified electric guitars and keyboards, more associated with rock music at the time than jazz. Some of the earliest seminal recordings of jazz fusion include Miles Davis' 1969 album 'Bitches Brew', the Mahavishnu Orchestra's 1971 debut 'The Inner Mounting Flame' (both of which featured guitarist John McLaughlin), and Herbie Hancock's 1973 album 'Headhunters'.
