Yanagisawa saxophones are made by a small family company in Japan that only makes professional quality insruments, recognised as some of the finest in the world. Popular with technicians, these instruments play straight out of the box and are incredibly reliable.
The TWO2 bronze model is the upgraded replacement for the legendary T902 model and is a proven contender that excels in its class and delivers great performance - the T902 and more! The body is made from bronze (a mix of copper and tin) rather than the TWO1 which is made of brass (copper and zinc). This difference in core materials affects the tone - bronze models tend to have a softer, warmer and more broad tone as opposed to the more direct and punchy sound of the brass TWO1.
Thanks to a re-engineered bore and tone holes, plus many more upgraded features, this is a free blowing instrument with a resonant tone which delivers a superb performance across all musical genres. Up-graded features include:
- Bore size and tone hole size and positioning has all been modified which is important to the way in which a sax plays in terms of response, intonation and resonance.
- Yanagisawa are now using a different source of brass. The mix and quality of zinc, copper and tin can affect the resonance and much testing was done to ensure the best tonal possibility from this new source of core brass.
- The right hand 'pinky' keys have been modified in shape and feel to facilitate faster finger movement at the bottom of the instrument.
- Additional 'feet' have been added under the right hand side keys to give the mechanism more support and a more postitve feel for the player when depressing the key.
- The TW range also benfits from a new strengthening plate on the front of the crook which adds core weight around the neck area. This can result in the player feeling more strength in the sound.
- There has been a new plate added to the left hand palm key area which should provide some extra resonance, especially on those notes as it adds some core weight to this area of the tube.
A student will develop their own unique style more easily due to both the advanced construction and ergonomic key design, and the advanced professional can be assured of both superior tone and a class-leading playing experience.
