"the piece takes as its points of departure two very different songs, Abendbilder by Franz Schubert and So in Love by Cole Porter, both of which I happened to stumble upon when I was about to start writing the piece. The rhythmic materials are mostly derived from Abendbilder, whereas the tonal materials are roughly derived from So in Love – though both the rhythmic and tonal materials were heavily transformed by various methods" – Magnus Granberg
