Diatribe Records presents the long-awaited debut release from renowned French saxophonists Guillaume Orti and Stephane Payen. The culmination of more than 25 years of intensive collaboration, on Volume I they set out to explore new terrain and draw on their extensive influences. A sonic journey mirroring the duos longevity, Volume I includes a recording of Middle Range Enharmony - the David Lacroix piece which became a starting point for the duo?s work. The album will be released with a performance work at New Music Dublin 2020, as a part of a seven-record launch series by Diatribe Records supported by the Arts Council of Ireland / An Chomhairle Eala?on. Guillaume Orti + Stephane Payen are stalwarts of the European Jazz scene, having played together in ground-breaking ensembles including Th?t, Kartet, Hasse Poulsen's Progressive Patriots and the European Saxophone Ensemble. Guillaume Orti has performed in such ensembles as Octurn, Reverse, Benzine, Th?t et Cie, MikM??k, and has featured alongside Malik Mezzadri, Olivier Sens, Yves Robert, Sebastien Texier and many more. St?phane Payen is a performer, band-leader, academic, and tutor. He is primarily known for his work in Th?t (1996-2011) and The Workshop, with whom he still performs. He has been a member of the F-Ire collective since its inception and was a member of the Hask Collective (alongside Gullaume Orti) until 2005, performing alongside musicians such as Doug Hammond, Sylvain Cathala, Makoto Sato, Marc Ducret, Tom Rainey and Dominique Pifarely.
