Intermediate. These arrangements of traditional Irish songs date from my involvement in community and education projects on behalf of the London Mozart Players in the 1990s. The Lark in the Clear Air combines simple harmony with lyrical counterpoint. By contrast, Cockles and Mussels is a lively one-in-a-bar. Danny Boy goes West is a somewhat eccentric version of Londonderry Air, in which a ‘Victorian’ hymn-like opening introduces Danny Boy in a texture perhaps more reminiscent of film music for a western.
