A rousing choral setting of a poem by Edward Thomas, composed in around 1921. Gurney made twenty settings of Edward Thomas, amongst which this is the only choral setting. This work, for 4-part choir with accompaniment, is distinct from his later song setting of this same poem. Left by Gurney in short score, the setting has been orchestrated by Philip Lancaster, but may be performed with piano. Full score available separately.
