Jingle Bells was written by James Lord Pierpont who was an American songwriter, arranger, organist, and composer. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1822 and died in Winter Haven, Florida in 1893. Jingle Bells was first published under the title "One Horse Open Sleigh" in the autumn of 1857. Even though it is now associated with the Christmas and holiday season, it was actually originally written for American Thanksgiving. It is uncertain where and when Pierpont originally composed the song. A plaque at 19 High Street in Medford, Massachusetts, commemorates the "birthplace" of "Jingle Bells", and claims that Pierpont wrote the song there in 1850 at what was then the Simpson Tavern. According to the Medford Historical Society, the song was inspired by the town's popular sleigh races during the 19th century. This arrangement should brighten up any Christmas or winter concert. The Drum Kit may be replaced by 2 percussion players playing Snare Drum, Suspended Cymbal & Bass Drum. A PACK includes a full score, string parts 4/4/3/4/2 and all wind, brass and percussion parts.
