Handel’s Utrecht Te Deum enthralled London audiences right from its first performance. The composition brought him an annual pension from Queen Anne and helped to establish him as a composer of prestigious music for the English royal family. The chorus is scored in five parts in a few movements (SSATB), with the concluding doxology beginning in double-choir scoring (SST/AATB).

Francesco Durante (1684–1755) was highly esteemed by his contemporaries, and even at the end of the nineteenth century he was still described as "one of the greatest Italian church composers and composition teachers of all time." His Magnificat in B flat major is undoubtedly one of his most important compositions and one of the most significant settings of this text in cantata form.

Orchestral

In 1996, Jonathan Del Mar’s groundbreaking edition of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony marked the beginning of his new edition of the complete symphonies of Beethoven for Bärenreiter. They have been used by countless orchestras all over the world ever since. In the run-up to Beethoven Year 2020, Del Mar has returned to the sources and scrutinised them afresh. The results: the musical text has withstood the test of time. This new hardback edition has an additional introduction by Barry Cooper.

Available Format: Sheet Music

Alongside the hardback full score, Bärenreiter have also republished their facsimile. Jonathan Del Mar comments on noteworthy passages in the autograph manuscript and allows the reader to share in the composer’s working process. Cuts, sometimes reversed later, show how Beethoven wrestled with the final version of the musical text and refined it right down to the last detail.

Although the music for the film Solo: A Star Wars Story was written by John Powell, veteran Star Wars composer John Williams was asked to contribute a handful of new themes for the plucky smuggler, which are combined here into this thrilling, four-minute medley for orchestra.

Also available with a set of orchestral parts.
