New Release Round-up,
Jazz New Release Round-Up - 12th April 2019
A fairly light week for jazz new releases, but two heavy-weights make up in quality what is lacking in quantity, with albums from Herlin Riley, Bill Frisell and Thomas Morgan alongside Nina Simone on vinyl.
A future Recording of the Week, this sounds knockout from the few tracks I have heard so far. Like their acclaimed ECM release Small Town of 2017 - which The Guardian called “wistful and mesmerizing... tonally ingenious and haunting” - Epistrophy by guitarist Bill Frisell and bassist Thomas Morgan was recorded at New York City’s Village Vanguard.
Available Formats: CD, MP3, FLAC/ALAC/WAV, Hi-Res FLAC/ALAC/WAV
Very relaxed, yet exploratory improvisations from the Kohashi-Overwater-Verploegen trio - is a collective jazz group that creates a unique sound, standing on an equal footing with each other.
Available Formats: CD, MP3, FLAC/ALAC/WAV
