September 2025
Carlo Vistoli brings both pathos and rage to Medea's vehement outpourings...Equally compelling is Hugh Cutting's interpretation of Vivaldi's Cessate, omai cessate. His youthful countertenor is beautifully controlled: warm, natural, expressive but never histrionic.
July 2025
Carlo Vistoli and Hugh Cutting make for superb duet partners and keen communicators...Their impressively dramatic performances contain deliciously modest moments leading to music-making of great subtlety.

I have no wish to sully the memory of Alfred Deller,..But hearing the contemporary countertenors Carlo Vistoli and Hugh Cutting, who deliver such easy virtuosity in William Christie’s latest baroque excursion with his ensemble Les Arts Florissants, is to experience an altogether more vigorous level of dramatic characterisation and technical finesse.
